Porcelain Crowns

A crown is a type of dental restoration that completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant. Crowns are often needed when a large cavity threatens the ongoing health of a tooth. They are typically bonded to the tooth using dental cement.

Procedure

A full crown restoration is generally a two appointment process, however sometimes a third appointment is necessary to ensure proper fit . Crowns are minimally invasive and often patients are able to return to life as normal immediately following the initial appointment.

The procedure begins with the removal of decay in the tooth. Once removed, an impression of the tooth is taken and sent to the lab where the crown will be carefully crafted. While the crown is being created, a temporary restoration will be placed on the site. Temporary restorations will resemble the natural teeth allowing patients to seamlessly continue with daily life.

At the second appointment placement of the final crown will be fitted comfortably into the mouth. Every effort is made to ensure that the new tooth feels exactly like a natural tooth. When all parties are satisfied with placement the crown is permanently cemented into the mouth, leaving patients with beautifully restored smiles.
